We’ve been talking about it for weeks, but it’s finally here as the FX-9590. The 5 GHz (turbo) CPU that is basically a pre-overclocked FX-8350. In the official announcement, AMD uses some careful wording that leads me to believe this is an OEM-only release for the time being.
The new AMD FX CPUs will be available from system integrators globally beginning this summer
The fact that there are motherboards touting 5 GHz FX compatibility suggests that the FX-9590 may find its way to retail shelves eventually. For now, you’ll have to pick one up as part of a full system if you’re interested. Or you could, you know, overclock an FX-8350 yourself. We got ours running rock solid stable at 4.9 GHz @ 1.5v, albeit it ran quite hot and required some pretty noisy cooling.
In addition to the FX-9590, another new model will be made available, presumably in the same manner. The FX-9370 will run at 4.7 GHz peak turbo. No base clock speeds are mentioned, nor are the TDP values. However our previous rumor held pretty true, so you might want to head over there for the rumored numbers.
